EBA Negotiation

Home » EBA Negotiation

Your contract of employment is a very important document, and forms the legal basis for your appointment as a pilot for the Virgin Australia Group.  An employment contract, or an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) is a very complex document which governs many parts of our work and home life.  Getting it right is paramount.

VIPA is the best Association to represent you for your EBA

VIPA’s successful approach to EBA negotiations incorporates:

consultation with members;

sound research as a basis;

collaboration with the Company.

EBA-Negotiation

VIPA believes that EBA negotiations should be approached in a conciliatory and professional manner.  We believe strongly that there are many ways in which we can work with our employer to increase our job satisfaction, conditions and remuneration, whilst helping the Virgin Australia Group to strengthen its operation with a content and engaged workforce.

Our aim is to achieve our objectives through professional and good faith bargaining, working towards a document that produces the best outcome for pilots whilst being sustainable for the Company. We strive to ensure we protect both our members’ futures, and that of our employer.

Our experienced team of negotiators

The negotiating teams from VIPA consist of current Virgin Australia Group pilots, who are directly affected by the outcome of the negotiations. Backed by experienced Industrial and Legal Officers, they have produced successful outcomes in past negotiations and will continue to improve and refine their strategy.

While not all fleets and ranks can be represented personally on the negotiating team, we consult closely with each fleet and rank to ensure their views are represented accurately. VIPA is strongly committed to consulting with our members through surveys, updates, newsletters, information meetings and social events, as well as conversations ‘on the line’, so that we can be sure we are representing our members views correctly.

We ensure correct implementation

After the EBA is finalised and accepted by FWA, VIPA’s team ensures the Company adheres to the rules and changes incorporated in the new EBA through regular Agreement Implementation Committee (AIC) meetings.

Virgin Australia Narrow Body and Wide Body AIC teams work with the Company in the ongoing implementation of the EBA, ensuring understanding of the Agreement and resolving issues as they arise.
